From a shared dream between father and son to Utah's first dedicated padel facility.
SLC Padel Club was born from a shared dream between father and son.
Pedro Bautista and his father began working on this project in 2024 with a simple but powerful goal: to build something meaningful together. They had always wanted to create a business side by side: something new, something exciting, and something rooted in connection and community.
As they explored ideas, one vision stood out clearly: Padel.
Originally from Venezuela, they had seen how the sport is deeply woven into communities across South America and Europe, and in recent years they watched it explode in popularity in the United States, especially in Miami, where they have family and exposure to the sport's rapid growth.
Seeing the opportunity early, they made a bold decision: to become pioneers of Padel in Utah. While they knew other clubs would eventually follow, their goal was to lead the way, introducing the sport with intention, quality, and a strong community foundation.
Utah felt like the perfect home. With its strong racquet-sports culture, active lifestyle, and family-oriented values, the state was a natural fit. An indoor facility made the vision even stronger, offering a year-round space to play, whether it's too cold to ski or too hot to be outdoors.
What started as a shared idea between a father and son has grown into a mission: to build Utah's Padel community from the ground up and create a space where people connect, compete, and belong.

When SLC Padel Club opened its doors, the team started small—but with the right people.

Christopher was the very first person to ever reach out, before there was even a signed lease. At the time, there was only a website with AI-generated information and a vision on paper. He called and simply said, "I want to be part of this." From day one, Christopher showed genuine belief in the project and a strong work ethic. Since then, he has become an invaluable member of the team, with a clear goal in mind: to grow within the sport and become a Padel coach.

McKenzie joined shortly after and immediately helped build a strong operational and cultural foundation for the club. Beyond her positive attitude and attention to detail, she quickly learned every aspect of the facility and brought a creative mindset to everything she touched. Her ideas for events, community engagement, and ways to introduce Padel to new audiences have played an important role in expanding awareness of the sport.
Together, they helped turn an idea into a functioning, welcoming club, and set the tone for the team and community that would follow.
